Our 2025/2026 Charity Partnership: York Against Cancer

About York Against Cancer

York Against Cancer is an independent charity that has been supporting people in York and North & East Yorkshire for 39 years. In that time, they have raised more than £20million for cancer support services and research. Here are just some of the ways they make a difference:

The Leveson Centre

A dedicated cancer support centre in York, offering a safe and welcoming space for anyone affected by cancer. The Leveson Centre offers an array of activities from yoga to choir singing as well as support, advice, practical help, and holistic treatments. We had the honour of visiting the centre in early March and felt the immediate sense of calm walking through the doors and being welcomed by so many friendly faces.

The Minibus Service

A free minibus service for patients undergoing radiotherapy treatment at St. James's Hospital in Leeds. The offer of a lift there and back means reduced stress, no fuel costs, no parking costs, and less reliance on family and friends. In 2025, this service did 1303 trips.

Why this is Close to My Heart

by Loredana Principessa, Founder & Director, MAR-CO Digital

MAR-CO Digital is named after my wonderful dad, Marco Principessa.
But this is more than just a tribute.

Here's my story:
January 9th 2015, is the day my life changed forever.
My dad was diagnosed with cancer.
Ten days later, we lost him.

My precious family unit changed so suddenly. My mum, my sister and I left to figure out life without him. I was 20 years old.

Cancer doesn't give warning. It doesn't wait.

It leaves a mark on everyone it touches, and I know so many reading this will relate to the pain.

Alongside the pain, though, there is something more powerful.

There is hope.

In the eleven years that have passed since I lost my dad, the advances in research, treatments, support and education have been life-changing for both patients and their families. And these continue to develop every year.

That's why, as of 2025, I committed to supporting a charity each year through MAR-CO Digital, and this year we are honoured to support York Against Cancer. Their continuous support and dedication to our local community are truly making a difference to those affected by cancer.
